Lap Band Beverly Hills
In 2009, 36
percent and 25 percent of adults in California were considered
overweight and obese, respectively. Carrying excess weight can have
serious consequences on an individual’s health. Being obese or
overweight has been linked to increased risk of developing type 2
diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and even some types of cancer.
Many lifestyle habits can contribute to being overweight and obese.
According to 2009 Behavioral Risk Factor
Surveillance System data by CDC, as many
as 25 percent of adults in California had failed to exercise in the
month before the survey, and less than a third had the recommended
daily amount of produce throughout the day. Teens and kids had also
failed to exercise and eat a healthy diet. Fewer than one out of six
teens had exercised an hour a day, and the average teen had spent at
least two hours in front of a television or computer, according
to the 2007 California Health Interview Survey.
California is working to help its residents make healthier choices through the
California Obesity Prevention Program, or COPP. COPP provides funding
to communities throughout California to target CDC-identified areas
in need of policy and environmental changes. Some of these changes
include requiring restaurants to publicly post nutritional
information on menus, limiting non-nutritious foods sold in primary
and high schools, and encouraging Californians to seek alternative
methods of transportation.
The LAP BAND system may be able to help those who have been unable to
lose weight through traditional diet and exercise programs. It has
been beneficial for thousands of people battling their weights
worldwide. Some studies have shown that some may be able to lose as
much as 30 to 50 percent of their excess weight within the three
years following their LAP BAND procedures.
Since all surgical procedures carry risks, you should consult with you
physician before starting any weight loss program. 1 800 GET THIN
does not provide any medical advice, does not hire any doctors and
does not offer any procedures or surgeries.
